The Spiritual Life - Mother Angeles Sorazu

The "Spiritual Life" by Mother Mary de los Ángeles Sorázu is a forgotten treasure of Marian Mystical Theology written by a Franciscan Conceptionist Poor Clare Nun. Mother Sorazu died in 1921 after many years in Religious Life. She was exceptionally gifted by God in the interior life, and particularly by a profound union with the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Sacred Humanity of Jesus Christ. 

In this treatise she describes the Mystical itinerary of a faithful soul from the time of its initial conversion away from a life of sin and dissipation, to a life of ardent fidelity to Grace and interior discipline. Although not strictly practical in nature, the treatise gives remarkably useful advice even for those who do not yet find themselves in higher levels of prayer, and has the effect of spurring one on to strive after those mystical heights experienced by Mother Sorazu herself. 

Wholly inset in the Franciscan mystical Tradition, Mother Sorazu describes throughout the book the particular role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the interior workings of Grace, something very rarely treated in books of Mystical Theology, yet so necessary to souls treading the difficult paths of mysticism.
